We have re-comissioned an existing building and turned it into a "state of the art" grooming emporium. Fully equipped with the latest professional tools and gadgets

to complete a professional groom. Featuring specially designed and thoughtfully chosen electric bathing station and grooming tables, designed to accommodate any pet's specific mobility requirements and care needs, whilst the health and safety of our canine clients is maintained at all times.

At Barkers of Boxhill - Dog Grooming Emporium, we are the pet's advocate.

We believe every pet deserves to enjoy a good and rewarding life and is treated with dignity and respect that they deserve. As we feel that our pets give us humans so much pleasure and un-conditional love and happiness in return.

Therefore, every pet that visits our Grooming Emporium will be treated like a member of our own canine family. Ensuring that every pet receives lots of love and attention, as well as play-time and relaxing breaks, or even if they feel like they need a little "alone" time.

Whatever the needs and requirements of your pet, we will provide a professional, hollistic approach to grooming. Hence, we will focus on delivering a one to one, canine health care and well-being grooming service in a safe, stress-free , relaxing and happy environment.

Our aim is to ensure that evey pet leaves our Grooming Emporium with a happy, smiley face, a wagging tail, a healthy coat and looking in tip top condition. Whilst looking forward to their next visit with us!

Therefore, we are focused on ensuring that every pet has an enjoyable and rewarding grooming experience in our specially designed Grooming Emporium that is situated within the beautiful grounds of Hawthorn Lodge B&B - Belturbet, Monea, County Cavan. Hence, being surrounded by landscaped gardens and stunning views of Lough Arden.

New Client Information

At Barkers of Boxhill - Dog Grooming Emporium, we pride ourselves on ensuring that our new client's precious pet has a safe, relaxing and calming experience when they visit us. Therefore, we kindly ask that all new clients bring along their pet to visit us here via an agreed arrangement at the Grooming Emporium prior a grooming session. The first intial consultation is completely free of charge.

As with all new clients, during this consultation, this time will allow the groomer to become acccquainted with the client's pet and will help the pet build a rapport with the groomer. Therefore, the pet feels comfortable and safe and is familair with the groomer and the surroundings.

Also, during this initial first consultation with new clients we will conduct a thorough, complimentary health check of your pet, the type of grooming requirements required. This will be an opportunity to discuss the groom and any documentation that needs to be completed, such as consent forms, prior to the grooming session.

This intial first consulatation is designed to help the groomer build an overall profile of the general health and well-being of your pet. Whereby, the groom is tailoured to suit the individual needs of your pet's individual requirements. This will also ensure that your pet's specific needs are catered for and also ensures that your pet has a positive experience.

Once the first initial consultation has been completed, every time on your pet's next visit to the Grooming Emporium, a Pre-Groom Health Check will be performed on your pet. Again, this service is completely free of charge. Therefore, clients can be rest-assured that your pet will receive lots of tender loving care!

Meet Your Groomer...

Hi there!

Please allow me to introduce myself...

I'm Samantha Jane Rodgers and have launched my very own dog grooming business in Monea, Milltown, Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland.

I have recently qualified with a Distinction in the QQI Level 5 Award in Animal Grooming in Ireland and achieved 100% marks in my assignments, health check assessments and grooming practicals.

Prior to becoming a professionally quallied Dog Groomer, please allow me to explain a little bit about my professional career background in a nutshell...

I have over 25 years of healthcare experience working as a senior qualified Operating Department Practitioner in NHS and Private Hospitals in the Main Theatres and Day Surgery departments in several hospitals in England, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

I am also the General Manager of our family business, Hawthorn Lodge B&B - Belturbet.

Before this time, I previously had careers as a Designer and Assistant Stylist for the Boots Company and as a Trainer / Merchandiser for Paul Mitchell Haircare and Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care.

Having decided recently to embark on a new career challenge coupled with my love of dogs, especially having grown up with them all of my life. I feel that my healthcare knowledge and skills coupled with my creative skills will bring another unique dimension to grooming my pet clients.

With an emphasis on advocacy and compassion, I provide personalized, one-on-one care for each pet client, ensuring they will feel relaxed and safe at all times whilst enjoying being pampered throughout the grooming process.

My healthcare background has taught me the importance of continual professional development. Hence, as a newly qualified Dog Groomer, I am passionate about continually developing my knowledge and skills in my new profession.

Having completed numerous training and certification courses in my healthcare role, I recognise the importance of being able to transfer some of my skills to my new workplace.

With this in mind, this year I completed the Canine First Aid Responders course, which is widely recognised in Europe.

Furthermore, I also recognise the importance of being attributed to a recognised professional body and continued professional development.

Therefore, in March 2025 I became a member of the Irish Professional Dog Groomers Association (IPDGA).
